Toledoans have a crisis over Blade writer's lack of Pizza Hut knowledge

Based upon the above comments, if we're clueless about Pizza Hut, then we:

"... live on Mars ..."

"... living under a rock ..."

I live under a Mars rock. No need for NASA to send rovers to the red planet. They can visit my house.

I'd also think that a food editor should be aware that they are an international chain with over 7,000 outlets in the US and over 5,000 in other countries.

Why?

Since it's an international chain, maybe it's unnecessary to write about or even be aware of what's already obvious to many others. You can read about Pizza Hut anywhere, including the news about a product being tested in the Toledo market.

I'm more interested in someone who writes about the less obvious in the local area. The side effect is that I could learn something.

Have you looked through her Blade articles or perused the Food section at the Blade? If you had, then you would realize that it's not her style nor the paper's focus, in general, to write about the happenings at large, national chain restaurants.

Mary Bilyeu is more familiar with a Toledo Greek church that offers a cooking class than the locations of Toledo Pizza Huts.

Mary Bilyeu is more familiar with a wonderful local farming family than the locations of Toledo Pizza Huts.

Congrats for the Blade on employing Mary Bilyeu who probably already knows more about the "interesting" parts of the Toledo area than many long-time Toledoans.

What I've learned about Toledoans, regarding food:

  • don't mess with their rib festivals
  • don't get in the way of a Sonic grand opening
  • don't diss their Pizza Huts

You know life is pretty good in the swampy farmlands of northwest Ohio when the big issue is a writer unaware of a Pizza Hut location. This could supplant microcystin as the local story of the year.

Maybe Pizza Hut can test a microcystin-infused topping in the Toledo market.

Of course, I kid because I care.
